Hi,
well as the local? BBC forecasters keep telling us, its gonna Rain this weekend. First it was Saturday pm, then Sunday pm. It is now 16.45 and there is no sign of rain at all, just more sunshine, as the temperature reached 20C here today. Cheers -- Bob H Leeds UK --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I have often found, well certainly here in the SE, the first autumn rains
slow to arrive. For some reason I have this date of the 9th September in my mind for that first transition from summer to autumn. Obviously there's no 'real' correllation with the weather and this date and looking at the current models it looks as though we may have to wait another week. Also September is often a dry month and I can recal many years when September was dominated by anticyclones. Don't dispair as the rain and wet will arrive and we would have entered that long damp and dark period which so depresses us in this country until the lights and hope of a white christmas arrive. I think I've said enough! Keith (Southend) -- ************************************************** "Weather Home and Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net/ "Bob H" wrote in message .. . Cheers Bob H Well Bob, I hate to say of the met office "not often right, but wrong again". Confirming a beautiful day in Leeds, 21.6C here, and sunny most of the day. Never heard so many people say in general conversation today how hopeless the weather forecasters are in Britain. I was put off going to Derbyshire today by the dismal forecast yesterday and the preceding days, I should have known better. A post earlier in the week asked what time the rain would arrive today, as he was having an outside event around noon, forget who it was but I nearly posted back saying " as rain if promised, heavy and wind too, it will probably be sunny and warm. And of course it was. Perhaps a few apologies are in order from the men with the multi million pound [tax payers money] computers. If a manager/team in other industry got it so wrong they would probably be fired. I have lost count this summer with the number of times the forecast, sometimes for only a few hours ahead, has been utterly wrong. Regards BrianT [South Leeds] Still 19.8C, very dry with lots of evening sunshine. |

Look at the radar and satellite maps on www.bbc.co.uk/weather/live/ and you will see that there is plenty of rain to the west of you, it's raining here now in western Scotland, though seemingly less than was originally forecast and moving more slowly. I doubt you will escape it altogether. here in south Cumbria it rained Friday night, then a bit over Saturday night, and is raining now. Jim Webster -- Malcolm Ogilvie |

Well Bob, I hate to say of the met office "not often right, but wrong I don't blame the met for getting it wrong, but surely a drastic warning like the one above should have been tempered by the confidence level of the forecast. Will anyone get hauled over the coals for this one? - Michael I think you have to accept that advice is worth exactly what you, personally, paid for it. Jim Webster Yes, true, but two points spring to mind:- - as taxpayers don't we all pay for the met service, or is it entirely self-funding? - if I had paid for a private forecast, would it have been different? ![]() - Michael |

Well on Monday at 17.30 we still have not had any rain at all, althought it was spotting at approx 16.30. That lasted for about 5 mins. Oh well, someday perhaps.
