Default More ash on the way

The BBC has just reported that Ireland has banned all flights into and out
of the country tomorrow morning. Belfast has also issued restrictions.
Scottish airspace may be affected later in the day. A north-easterly wind is
being blamed.

I'm sure the Meto has been in close touch with the various agencies,
as the change in wind direction has been on the cards for a while.
Their forecasting will be crucial to the operation.

What are the projections for wind direction for the next 7 days?

.... although there are day-to-day variations, at say 10000ft (700
mbar), the flow is broadly 'out of the north'.

It's not as simple as just looking at the forecast flow though, as
other factors come into play which the current suite of trajectory
programmes handle (and do well, despite all the nonsense spouted a
couple of weeks ago); however, with the block settling down, with high
to the west and low centres (variously) to the east or northeast [
temporarily to the south - hence cutting off the flow ], the weather
isn't playing ball.
