Default Strange inverse rainbow !?

Just taken these http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/nickw7...InverseRainbow
photos.

As you can see it's not raining, but I think it's like a Sun Dog...

Appears to be directly overhead for about 10 minutes...

Located in Northallerton.

Explanation anyone ?

Circumzenithal Arc. I've seen a very similar photo recently but can't
find it now. I think a child liked it because it looked like a smile. I
thought it was on CAS but the only one I can find is here -

There is another link in a reply worth looking at.

Also worth looking at are the couple of postings by Jari Luomanen and
his photos at http://jari.pic.fi/kuvat/Atmospheric+phenomena+and+sky/ He
has some interesting experimental photos.

I've only seen this in strong association with Sundogs, it's a
"Circumzenithal Arc".

However the "zenith" in its name is not the astronomical zenith, its
some sort of artificial point, which led me to looking in the wrong
place for many decades.

Now I know where to look, the CZA can be seen several times every year.

BTW, a bit late now, there has been some Noctilucent Cloud about this
evening, first decent sighting this year for me.

and refers to the "smiley rainbow" photo here -
