.. that they were promising for the SE last night on the weather forcast.
Looking at the latest radar data on the BBC site there isn't any substantial rain within 100 miles of london. Can't the met office even get their predictions correct 12 hours in advance now? B2003 |

Whether any one place gets an inch I'm not sure, but there will be a short period of moderate/heavy rain for many across the Home Counties. Tom Greetings from Marlow (Bucks) Tom, first pulse of rain cleared area at 1105Z, with short burst of mod rain, skies brightening now, with CU Con quickly developing to W-NW+Chilterns, on TS watch next couple of hours Regards Richard bailey |

We've actually had some 'useful' rain here for once: as at 1155Z, 3mm+ in just over half-an-hour. I would think some areas are getting very heavy rain and an inch in a few places would not be out of the question. Seems like it will prove to be a pretty good forecast to me. Was the forecast you saw only for the morning? I doubt it; I think they will have bee tlking about during the day and it is always worth waiting until the outcome time to judge a forecast.*)) |

Torrential rain here in Cranleigh, Surrey around 3pm BST. It didn't last long enough to give an inch, but for ten or fifteen minutes it was hard enough to turn the footpath outside my garden into a stream an inch or so deep. (At least, that's what I estimated looking from my front window. I had too much sense to go out in it!) -- John Hall "I don't even butter my bread; I consider that cooking." Katherine Cebrian |

It was interesting tracking it on the Met Office radar, a long, very narrow line of intense rainfall moving N-S. Would it be classed as a squall line? It seemed to weaken considerably when it reached the south downs. |
