Default Today's model interpretation (4/09/10)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on
Wednesday. Issued 0449z, 4/09/10.

The second half of the week will see rain affecting much of the UK as
a trough moves eastwards. A col will follow, bringing scattered
showers, with strengthening southerlies by the weekend.

A col covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with easterlies for
Scotland. A col persists on day 6, followed by southerlies and SW'lies
on day 7 as a weak ridge crosses the UK ahead of a low to the west.

Easterlies cover the UK due to a low to the SSW. The low fills and
moves NE'wards over England and Wales on day 6, leading to easterlies
elsewhere.

Low pressure lies to the WNW, with a trough over the UK. Winds are
westerlies for all areas except Scotland, which lies under SE'lies. A
col brings light winds on day 6, followed by southerlies on day 7 due
to a low to the NW.

GEM: http://www.wzkarten.de/pics/Rgem1201.gif
The UK lies under light winds due to a col.

An area of low pressure covers England and Wales, with easterlies
elsewhere.
