Ken
Thanks - local gritting team mentioned it snowing one night, but it didnt last for long as it quickly turned to rain, that must have been the occasion. Glad you mentioned it, gives more evidence and I can add it in to my events log. Perhaps some snow tonight on the very tops ? Paul |

Aye, very smooth white looking Crossfell it looked like snow but could have been very heavy hoar/rime. The top of Crossfell was in and out of the clouds. As for tonight maybe, the first signs of the approaching system are appearing. Of the last few hours the wind has gone from the NE to SW and is picking up, pressure is falling and so is the temp just below 5C ATM. GDF is reporting similar changes to the wind and a temp just below 0C. So Snow is certainly a strong possibilty up there and quite likely for us, assuming the temp continues to drop. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. Clear and frosty last night, but a number of showers later in the night and this morning. Observed sleet in shower leaving the village at 0800, temp 2c. Dry from York Westwards, so the showers moves further inland than usual. David Mitchell. Langtoft. E Riding. |

Forgot to add, wouldn't have been surprised to see snow on the North York Moors, but I could only see the Western area and didn't have time to divert for a better view. 2.8mm from showers since midnight here, now below 0 again. There appeared to be a dusting on the higher Cheviots when I was out and about this morning. -- The ex-Meteorologist formerly known as Purbeckview |
