here really given no snow cover and only mist/stratus present.

it was a fine sunny start this morning in Teignmouth / Newton Abbot,
but low cloud rolled in about 10:30, with the temperature struggling
to get above -1c here in South Devon.

It is remarkable indeed. Surely the minimum temperatures on the North
Norfolk coast are also a rare event so early in the year.

It was an Ice Day here in Teignmouth with my garden thermometer not
getting above -0.1c, and that was with some exposure to the sun before
the cloud rolled.

This is the lowest temp since -6.5 C on 7 Jan 2009.

It's bottomed out now. Summer must be on the way.
