Saw the BBC Look East Forecast at 18:55 and she showed that snow band moving across us in a line NW / SE, as if it was a front moving up from the SW, this was shown over the whole of Essex at the end of the run. Seems that everyone is interpreting this thing differently. Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |

In article om,
Lawrence Jenkins writes: Yes where is my &*%ing snow, just checked with UKMO and the clowns have been adamant since last night about snow for the SE from midday tomorrow, why they even updated this afternoon yet now its gone. Gone? What are you looking at that makes you think that? If it's one of their maps with the sun, cloud and snow symbols, we've discussed before that these are best ignored. They seem to be generated by a not very satisfactory piece of software. Much better to go with the text forecasts and the Weather Warnings, which at least are produced by human forecasters. The current forecast for the SE: Headline: Very cold and icy. Some snow at times on Saturday. This Evening and Tonight: Another very cold night with long clear spells at first. Ice remaining on untreated surfaces. Some snow showers are likely to affect southern parts of the region later in the night. Minimum temperature -10 °C. Saturday: Soon becoming cloudy with some outbreaks of snow, perhaps heavy at times, spreading in during in the morning and lasting into the afternoon. Remaining very cold. Maximum temperature 2 °C. Updated: 1907 on Fri 17 Dec 2010 And the Weather Warning, valid from 1am to 10pm tomorrow for areas including Greater London: A band of heavy snow is expected to move eastwards across parts of England and Wales during Saturday. 5-10 cm of snow is expected widely, with the possibility of up to 20 cm accumulating in places, especially inland. Rain and sleet is more likely on some coastal fringes. Please note there are continued uncertainties about amounts and extent of snowfall, but there is the potential for widespread disruption to travel networks and sporting events. Please monitor the Met Office website for possible updates to this warning. Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" If it is so uncertain than surely those useless weather web pages at UKMO can just say that. No instead they spew this crap out as if its written in stone I'm really cheesed of with this. Today at work I showed a colleague the UKMO forecast so he could advise his wife to call of a function in Kent. I would really like to find the nerd who put those pages together and give him/her a virtual slap. the blithering bloody idiots. Yes forecasting is difficult so why bloody try without factoring in uncertainty |

So are you saying that people shouldn't look at UKMO say on this page
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...t_weather.html Shouldn't really bother as there is a dollop of uncertainty . Okay two points: what's the point then in showing this stuff and where on that page does it talk about uncertainty? Please have a look and then point it out to me but I must warn you I won't wait up. Do what I do Lawrence and ignore the crap they put out! I take the warnings for this area with a pinch of salt, rarely do they come off, so what is the point? This morning the warnings said we would be having 5 to 25cms here over the next few days but looking at the recent forecasts we'll be lucky to get 2 cms ![]() Another mega hyped event down the pan! Loved the BBC NEWS tonight 'many places hit by heavy snow', err a few places hit by heavy snow! I can't wait for tomorrows headline when I wake up to my half a centimetre of snow ![]() Graham |

So that's the end of that then ![]() Graham |
