Well I can't quite match these, but I did set a new April record of
26.3C.

Can anyone vouch for the accuracy of 27.8C at Wisley yesterday?

Any reason not to? Sandy soil, but I do not know whether or not the station
is in an over-sheltered location.

Also another unusual combination which I have just noticed but not seen
discussed elsewhere or included in extremes reported for Saturday.

Over the sandy soil of Breckland, Norfolk The Met Office listed Santon
Downham Climat station as Coldest night with Min 4.5C, Warmest day, 27.0C
and wettest 20mm for East Anglian region for 24 hours to 2100Z on Saturday.

I was in Thetford that day, with Santon Downham about 4 mi NW. First Cu
developing just NW at 1200 local time, Glaciated Cb and first thunder 1345.
Thunder and lightning continued non stop to 1745. OCNL light rain for about
an hour from 1600 would estimate less than a mm. Throughout the storm there
was brigthess showing beyond the curtain of rain to west and NW and
absoulutely clear sky just to East and beyond. The whole cloud system
showed little overall movement.

And 20 miles or so away (from Thetford) in Ely we saw precisely zero
rainfall. Conditions are really arid around here at present. Plenty of
(very unusual) cereal irrigation also going on (potatoes etc yes - not
that unusual, but cereals not so). Saturday max at a well-exposed site
out in the fen measured at 26.7C. I see Lakenheath and Mildenhall were
also showing 27C max on Saturday (though just reading to the nearest
integer degC IIRC).

There was a post hinting at the extremes from David Mitchell,
Langtoft, Yorkshire Wolds.
"Remarkable day Saturday"
High 26.1C Low 3.5C (range 22.6 degC)
Santon Downham doesn't get the publicity it used to, is that because
of the demise of the Monthly Weather Report that I used to read
avidly?
Another interesting site I used to enjoy looking at was Redhill
airport, long since dropped by the Met O.
