Default Rain, lovely rain!

Absolutely chucking it down here in Blackheath. Rain gauge doesn't know
what's hitting it.... up to 7mm already since this morning, amazing.
One or two blitzes, a bit of thunder. Lovely.

17:20 - now more or less finished. 17mm in the gauge. Delphiniums
flattened. But the lawn will appreciate it.

Only 7mm here so far in S.Essex but very welcome and will do some good.
Did you notice that beautiful smell of the first rain that fell. Always
seems stronger after a long dry spell.

Spoke too soon. Alas, poor delphiniums, I knew them well.

I stake mine Kate!
But then I guess I expect wind and rain all year on Dartmoor.
It's annoying though at this time of year.

The grand total of 0.6mm in Dawlish. It just about wet the downpipes.
Not a drop got into the water butts.

Mid Suffolk managed 3.2 mm here up to 1800Z and nothing significant since.
No thunder but plenty of CB's around with some good sunny interludes this
afternoon. Most welcome but not enough!
2 mm at Wattisham.

24mm by the evening. Delphiniums battered but now propped up.

Actually the first smell was of wet burnt rubber on tarmac from the
road.... but as that washed away, yes, a wonderful fresh air that we
haven't had for months!
