Cooler even than 1993 in Penzance. My coolest on record (records start
1992).

Dry though, driest since 2005.

If Cornwall is like most parts of England, then cool and dry is an
unusual combination in summer. I have an idea that the summer of 1962
was like that, though.

Shouldn't that be followed by a wink John. Not that I believe in pattern

Looking back at my records, there is no strong correlation between
summer temperature and rainfall.

The 5 notably cool Summers (1993, 1998, 2002, 2008 & 2011) 3 were wet
& 2 dry.

The 4 notably warm summers (1995, 2003, 2005 & 2006) 2 were dry, 1
wet, and 1 normal.

May I ask how these summers compare if you just take the mean maximum,
rather than the daily average mean?

After all, I dont suppose many non-meteorological people bother too
much about the night minimum unless it is too warm to sleep.
