A month's worth of rain in a day always seems to be a pretty handy indicator of a serious rainfall situation. I've not had one drop of rain from this 'event' which started early on Sunday, and I don't expect to either as the current rain band decays only for another to form over eastern England early tomorrow. There won't be many places in the country that will be able to say that in 36 hours time. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl Indeed, Col, and sheer madness here earlier. Wife on phone to her work most of evening organising facility services for buildings flooded. BCM invocations being considered to alternate sites which says a lot for the seriousness of it all. Storm drains overflowed; manhole covers lifted (some interesting footage now appearing on Youtube); cars flooded and one clip shows a BMW 5-series floating slowly away with hazards flashing! No news to report, thankfully, of any injuries...but won't know full extent until tomorrow. I imagine many householders and shop owners are going to suffer quite tonight. THe difference now from earlier is remarkable. Drying out and cooling down. Joe Joe Dublin 28m AMSL |
