uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

Default Frackquakes (?)

On Nov 23, 2:27*pm, Al Rosenfield wrote:
I have come up with a possible reason that earthquakes happen near
fracking operations.

As I understand it, the Blackpool earthquakes in Britain were a direct
result of the fracking process. The surface of the well hole was
exposed to liquid under high pressure.

In this country, earthquakes in Arkansas and Ohio happened near
fracking-liquid disposal pits. Since these pits are extremely deep,
there is a high hydrostatic pressure on the pit wall.

In both cases, if a hole is drilled that intersects a geological
fault, there is the possibility that liquid will be forced into the
fault. Under these conditions, the fault can be unlocked and
lubricated by the liquid, particularly if it is a shear fault. Because
the locations of many very deep faults are unknown, the driller has no
guidance as to how to avoid puncturing a fault.

I am interested in comments as to whether this line of reasoning is
worth pursuing.

The cause of earthquakes is aquifer fractures. Most of these occur
when superheated H2O reacts with rock. Usually this results in a
sealed container leaking.

But it is a self curing process as the solute H2O + SO2 is a self
sealant. It produces a layer of quartz/original stone mix that is
waterproof.

But water under pressure can dissolve Silica. Add a quantity of low
pressure low temperature water to such an aquifer and the physics
changes.

Now try and get a model run on that scenario that has a control for
the butterfly effect.

I have just been working on a cause and effect situation for the Ring
of Fire and come up with the following:

(Intro:
This last few days, following the Low pressure breaking on the
southern tip of Greenland, the series of quakes ran up the western
side of the Mid Arctic ridge and went down the outside of the
substantial anticyclone standing in the North Pacific.)

Is the way that cyclones and anticyclones interact related to the
transverse wave along which earthquakes run?

I don't know how to answer that.

Which means I already know the answer and that I am lost looking the
other way.

Which means it will be a long time coming and bloody obvious when it
gets here.

1. When a cyclone lies close to an anticyclone they do not join up.

2. When a cyclone lies close to an anticyclone they produce winds that
flow in opposite directions in the same direction.

3. When a cyclone lies close to an anticyclone, the greater their
pressure disparity, the tighter their isobars press. And the greater
the resulting related earthquake magnitudes.

4. There is a modicum of chirality with the transverse wave. Some go
around the outside of the anticyclone down the Asian side of the
Pacific.

5. Very few earthquakes occur in the centre of the Pacific. Most deep
cyclones and anticyclones occur in the middle of the Pacific.

AHA ! I get it......open NOAA Weather Service then Space Weather then
USGS ....osmose

how many simplistic explainations for the gas quakes ?

GQ were analyzed prior. When do we see the emails and paper ?

No offence and all that but you really aught not refrain from taking
your medicine.

Have you tried iodine tablets?
They are very good for you.
Get some. If you don't notice the difference get your friends to
explain it to you, assuming you can still talk to the animals
afterwards.

SERIOUSLY, any day now someone-WikiGas ? - will blog forward with a
ream of Esso analysis stating unequivocably - if fracking goes
forward, the planet will implode as a 10 cent baloon.

most gas goes for security lighting anyhoo. planetary death for
mprotection from the lower economic, suppressed, and underprivledged
classes of vandals and thieves.

Not to mention lower insurance rates for the enlightened.

pass the seawater

You really find it difficult to take insults don't you.
Is that genetically a trait in your neighbourhood?

It would explain the street lighting.

Imperial Dam's grackles flew uphill to the mesa from Colorado reeds to
say hello with visual bird demonstrations of greeting....right off.
That following the global quake flow going off to the eats coast, and
of course violence in California. AAA. And we had only a fcew days
here last year when the BLM/or? sprayed the dam area with wjhat
smelled like roach killer...I fled to Texas.

The sunset here in Yuma is incroyable. I'll try a photo. Lighting ?
USMC's Yuma Proving Ground is surrounded by AAA fencing and GKWE? yet
twinkles brightly in our view off the Mesa.

A conpendium OF GAS CO. explainations offered to the locals would be
reading.

I owned a parcel on a bench above trout stream, beaver pond, waterfall
in northern PA waaaayout in the boons. In bewteen gas areas.

Recently an asshole approached me with this knowledge leading to a
nyah nyah nyah about land owners getting 5 mill from the Gas Co. for
signing paper....

I did not have rights to the underside. Prior owner, last trappper
ect. sold rights to the Local Feudal Overlord back in ???

asking the obvious, fracking hasn't begun in Canada or Indonesia or
has it ?

lordy lordy may the force be with you

BTW Al, look up the New Madrid Quake photo book and read it via
interlibrary loan. The author captures what was left of NM quake
evidence: impressive.
