uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

It looks to be right in the firing this winter so far (something that
model forecasts from last month that I'm party to at work pointed very strongly to - so kudos there) http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-b...modela dd=jma ECMWF in particular gives Denmark a sharp dig on Friday before the models diverge (well - the GFS diverges from the rest - plus ca change!). Windstorm Yoda (yes Yoda) last week turned out to be nothing much, but Windstorm Xaver just before that produced some intense winds and quite a storm surge in Norway, this northerly jet is certainly aimed for Scandinavia. Greatly enjoying this period of mobility albeit remotely from Germany. Incidentally a friend reported that her flight was 1.5 hours early getting in from New York on Friday - "one of the strongest jetstreams I can remember" according to the Captain. Richard |

Richard ================================================== ======================== Fairly dramatic looking charts, Richard...I'm sure the Danes won't be looking forward to that weather!! Have to ask....are you able to share anything in relation to our own prospects from those models you're party to? ;-) Joe |
