One of the presenters hinted at some colder weather next week. Some charts indicate the possibility of Northern blocking. Probably nothing too dramatic and not really surprising as December approaches and we haven't had any cold snaps so far this Autumn/Winter. Shame Will's not around at the moment to hype it up ;-) Dave Looking at the 12z and 18z models tonight Dave I'd say the chart being thrown up for next Monday onwards are pretty amazing. |

The 18z may of course be a very low outlier, we will have to wait and see. Looks like there will be some wind chill in the S.E based on those charts. |

Looks to be more certainty this morning with winds swinging into the north-east next Tuesday to herald a gradual cooling. Snow looks unlikely in the south-east though if that pattern locks in I would think we could see something wintry by Monday 3rd? |

Of no real significance though being more than a week away, although a colder spell looks fairly certain, and can probably attach unpleasant to that as well! Dave |

Dave Looking at today's (Thursday's) 00Z runs (possibly the GFS had already updated to the 06Z run - I forgot to check!), though there are differences in detail the three main models agree that in a week or so's time high pressure will be well established to the west of the UK and perhaps to the north of us too, with one or more centres of low pressure close to southern or south-eastern England. The GFS looks particularly wintry. I didn't see the run that Dave refers to above, but it sounds like today's 06Z run could be pretty similar to it. -- John Hall "Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong."
