Hi, All,

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/...dweatheralert/

I console myself with the facts that you have no decent football and cricket
down there and Copley is drier!
Best wishes,
Ken

Hi, Dave,
We've got the beaches and scenery and few crowds - no it's just the warmth
in winter that I envy.

LOL

Yeah football is crap here. Also a long way from the "theatre of dreams" :-(
Local cricket is good though, real villagey stuff, good ale, great scenery
(of all types :-)) and if you want cold you can get it on the moors. It's
also lovely and quiet.

I still want to move back up north though, closer to my roots, could I still
buy Lead Mill or have prices gone up recently :-)

LOL again. I had to buy a house up at 1000 feet to escape the winter warmth,
I'd hate to live low down in the southwest, wet and mild and yucky in winter
with little hope of any snow.
20 days snow falling so far this winter up here and 11 days snow lying full
cover - marvellous!
You'd really hate the rain though Ken. 212 mm last month and 378 mm in
December. Also low down it is still normal to get 100 mm in a winter month.
Do you have 630 miles of coast path? :-)

Hi, Will,
There are only four houses at the Lead Mill, but as they enter their 36th
day with full snow cover this winter and no sun since mid October, there
would not be a lot of demand from locals to live there if any came up for
sale!
Cricket - I was meaning Yorkshire / Durham standard and football - Allez le
Toon, apart from the wonderful "Bishops" (;0)
enjoy your 630 mile coast walk. Anyway, I think you've done our coast to
coast and didn't come to see me!
It's just the winter cold I get tired of these days, summer's usually good
here (but not always!).
Ken

Hang on Ken, I wouldn't mind seeing Jos Buttler playing on a few warm summer
days!

This 'crowded bit' is not the case, unless you choose to go to say Newquay, St Ives or Perranporth. Most of the coast is quiet even in July, and you don't have to wonder far.

It's easy to find a beach almost to yourself, even in July, such as Porthkidney, just 3 miles from St Ives, or Nanjizel, less than 2 miles from the full horror of what DeSavary built at Land's End. I was on Nanjizel one of the few lovely days last July and apart from the group I went it was deseted most of the time, just coastal path walker wandering past and several seals..

Some lovely pics of some of the quiet beaches near Land's End, Pdne (nudist) Porthquarra & Nanjizel, at http://www.chappellphotography.co.uk/

Personally the further I am from a cricket match the better, unless I'm in need of sleep!

I'm happy with my location thanks. Having been born and brought up in Cornwall nothing would drag me back.
Not as snowy as Ken maybe, but 21 snow lying is more than enough in a sheltered lowland valley. Our wet year in 2012 was still not as much as an average year in Cornwall.
We don't get those horrible muck and drizzle days and we have far more sun, but sometimes an easterly in spring and summer can be annoying.
I do miss the wind though.
Cricket in Scarborough is just up the road, Wednesday is a bit further to travel to, but how I miss the Cornish rugby and hell fire corner and the singing.
And we have beaches (not as good though)and far less populated and quieter.

Light snow this morning and the Wolds look pretty, but not looking forward to more potential snow shovelling.
