Default Evershot, WDorset: Overnight snow still at it

Just measured 4cm depth on the wheeliebin top, the nearest level surface
I can reach without actually going outside. Large flakes and lots of them.

0745: T 0.2C D -0.1C.

Interesting! Its has ONLY just started snowing here at Hilton. Was
just thinking about this, checking the temp and dewpoint, turned
around and.....hey presto. Coming down with real intent.

I am not sure this will keep up for long judging by the radar - though
this is very difficult to assess. There is a long line of precip
running down to West Bay and beyond. I thought this was moving east
very smartly but I am not too sure. Pressure is just rising so I am
guessing we are on the back edge of a small cell circulation.

It will be interesting to hear from Martin Rowley later.

I seemed to miss all the thunder and so on yesterday.

I was only saying to someone yesterday that this Spring may be a VERY
long time coming

regards

Now 0815: Snow almost stopped, just a few tiny particles. T +0.2 D +0.1.

Robin, fascinating stuff! I've just been out to take a photo and found
that there is quite a thick fog/mist. I guess it's a cloud we're sitting
in, and that the snow grains are just part of the cloud.

Have a look he

I think you'll see what I mean.

All good wishes

Very nice indeed. The temp when I awoke as the cat required feeding
was at 0630 2.2c and DP 1.9, and has dropped to 0.7OAT and 0.4 DP so
there we have it.

I can see the radar echoes now to your north, but here there is a fair
conveyor belt running well south. Looking at it I see further 'width'
that may just come your way but of course temperatures may rise...

I got some good pics whilst walking the dog.

Yesterday I was thinking about getting some varieties of gooseberrys
planted and finishing off the back....hah!

Was it not a year ago that the temp was much more spring like? Just
had a quick browse and found 26/28th March 2012 it got up to 17c or
so but April looked poor.

Vast snowflakes coming down now

Hugh

.... all rain here (up to 17/0920Z), and a lot of it! In the 24 hours to
09Z = 17.8 mm, and in the previous 24 hr, 25.0 mm, so 42.8 mm in 48
hours, roughly 65% of our eLTA 1981-2010.

Ground absolutely saturated - all local tributary streams etc.,
fast-flowing and high and we really don't want much more. These
organised convective/cellular clusters are tucked away in the axis of
the trough which isn't exactly moving very fast.

Martin.
