Default Does T120 indicate a breakdown?

Looking at the Met Office charts for T+120 - it shows westerlies
beginning to come in from the west - could that be the relief we need?

There is an interesting discussion on the upcoming end of the heatwave
on the UKweatherworld forum he

http://tinyurl.com/l98r5km

It seems to suggest that the block will be broken down by one of the
methods Will explained when I asked on here about how blocks break down,
namely a powerful jet firing at the block and forcing it to retreat NE.

If true, hats off to Derek Brockway who said on Radio Wales 2 days ago that
he'd just seen charts indicating that next Thursday might see an end to
this spell of hot weather.

To be fair, this has been hinted at for several days now on both GFS
and ECMWF - he's far from the only one who noticed.

Doesn't mean it will happen, of course. We shall see.

I think the reason I really respect Derek Brockway is that he was prepared
to say it, whereas other forecasters seem too afraid of having their words
twisted, and then being accused of being wrong.

Derek quite clearly said it was only a possibility. Unfortunately certain
parts of the media prefer to ignore the caveats.

Of course, it was actually the other forecasters that were wrong, who
were still saying "there is no sign of an end to this".
