Default Problem with AWS

My AWS (Davis Vantage Pro 2) has stopped reporting temperature and
humidity. I've changed the battery with no change in the readings. I've
tried reconnecting the wireless connection with equally no change.

Do I have to (can I) replace the temp/hum device?

Hugh

Hi Hugh

You could try checking that all the connectors are clean and that there is no
corrosion or foreign matter on the sensor itself. The 'screen' is easy to
dismantle and re-assemble.

I ordered a replacement a few months ago from Prodata at
http://www.weatherstations.co.uk/ . Got it next day and fitted it with no
problems.

Roy, extraordinarily it's started working again. Of course it waited
until I had ordered a new one! How can it be so unpredictable?

Never mind, I'll have a spare for the next time it happens.

I had the exact same problem a couple of summers ago. The sensor used
to stop sending data when the temperature reached a certain value. I
think you were wise to order a spare - I hung on a month but still
needed a new one when the next warm-ish spell arrived.

Freddie, I hadn't thought that temperature might be a problem. It has
got through this last hot spell till today. Maybe it's time I got a
proper temp set up Met Office standard with mercury and all that. Gosh,
expensive. I'll think about it for a year or six.

Hi Hugh

Similar happened to me a couple or three years ago and I researched
the issue with Prodata. I had to get a new part but i did get first
class attention to detail from John Dann.
I think it was the humidity reading that failed, but to be honest it
is a while ago.
And come to think of it, I did have an on/off situation - rather like
you. As you have indicated, if it goes off again, you can break open
the screwdrivers and sort it!
By the way, the CR123 battery can be replaced whilst you are at it. I
got two for £2.73 off Amazon.
Cheers
Robin

I had the same symptoms a couple of years ago, and mine definitely
was a faulty humidity sensor. It took out the temperature readings
too.
