Hi, All,
The sunshine continues, another 9hr yesterday makes 24hr in the past 3 days. The constant radiation through the very clear sky means little snow melt in the Lead Mill area of the village. The gusty winds and big temperature fluctuations of yesterday seem to have gone for now, although the Dun Fell station 20 miles west continues to show the temperature variation. MetO site 09Z10th, W 4KT, 10 miles, few clouds(Ci), -1C/-2C, 1032 steady, snow patches (10%) 24hr to 09Z Max 11.4C min -2.3C grass -10.1C rain nil, sun 9th 9.0hr Lead Mill Max 8.1C min -4.1C snow 5cm (90%) Ken Copley Teesdale http://www.kencook.magix.net/ |

Not much, but even our pavement is still treacherous in places. |

It's not often that Great Dun Fell is one of the warmest reporting stations in the British Isles. It was 7.4 deg at 1100z. Only the far N and NW of Scotland and the Scilly Isles were warmer. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

In effect it's night if you're in the shade provided there is little wind. Presumably the Lead Mill site receives very little sun in the winter. Here, there is no weather. 8/8 Sc 2000-2500 ft. No wind to speak of. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, NE Surrey, 557 ft. |

Hi, Tudor, No sun down there for the 4 months November to February! Four houses there and a holiday cottage in spite of that. Another delightful day here above the inversion with over 8 hours' sun on the cards again and 8.6C Can't last. Ken |

Not much, but even our pavement is still treacherous in places. ============ Just been for yet another walk on Dartmoor and I'm gobsmacked as to how much snow is left. Still 90% cover above 500 metres and quite deep in places with many patches right down to 350 metres asl. That is after two days of over 10C. But we have had no rain and the snow has gone through numerous freeze/thaw cycles in the past two weeks! Ken Copley Teesdale 31.07 hrs for the same period here. Went down to the SOL yesterday, left here with full cloud cover but 10 miles south cloud cleared and it was blue skies (and lingering snow patches in the Borders) all the way. Fog patches and frost from late afternoon onwards made the banks of the Wear quite atmospheric. As far as the game was concerned I travelled hopefully but...what's new? George that is a true supporter. Rob Green would choose to have a good game wouldn't he!
Back on topic. Lead Mill snow cover remains and temperature hovers around 0C to 1C We were really spoilt with that sunny inversion :-) Ken |
