Typical. It's not often you get something beautiful in Basildon but I
went to the Chilterns on Wednesday to photograph the Red Kites and
missed it! Still, they were nice.

Nice, but I strongly suspect a hoax. The conditions for K-H waves are simply not there. The Herstmonceux ascent for 12Z 15th April shows very little wind shear. Also, the humdity is too low.

I saw what looked like the remnants of one of these over Wanstead earlier, about 2.45. It looked to have formed from a jet contrail but had decayed - I didn't get the chance to photograph it as I was driving

Seen them in the Teign Valley, but it was before the days of mobile phones and I wasn't carrying a camera in my golf bag!
