Picture of beautiful K-H clouds over Essex.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/feature...e=news_central Spotted this when it was tweeted by Steph Ball a few minutes ago. -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' - Isaac Asimov. |

It's not often you get something beautiful in Basildon but I went to the Chilterns on Wednesday to photograph the Red Kites and missed it! Still, they were nice. https://www.flickr.com/photos/dcweather/ Dave, nr Basildon, S.Essex. |

Nice, but I strongly suspect a hoax. The conditions for K-H waves are simply not there. The Herstmonceux ascent for 12Z 15th April shows very little wind shear. Also, the humdity is too low. http://weather.uwyo.edu/cgi-bin/soun...512&STNM=03882 Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

I saw what looked like the remnants of one of these over Wanstead earlier, about 2.45. It looked to have formed from a jet contrail but had decayed - I didn't get the chance to photograph it as I was driving -- ------------------------------ This email was sent by a company owned by Pearson plc, registered office at 80 Strand, London WC2R 0RL. You think the 20kt shear in the moist layer at 350hPa is insufficient? -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. [Retd meteorologist/programmer] http://www.scarlet-jade.com/ I wear the cheese. Seen them in the Teign Valley, but it was before the days of mobile phones and I wasn't carrying a camera in my golf bag!
