"Bruce Messer" wrote in message ... the urbanisation of Heathrow has never halted in the last 60 years and siting a stevenson screen on a patch of green grass must be nigh on impossible. Every weather presenter knows if you need an extreme max look no further than O3772. In winter Gatwick was always a bet for coldest in the SE but nowadays Benson seems to be the place. The Heathrow max on that day does look a bit dodgy, but its the insatiable desire for a headline that drives these weather presenters onto social media with their tweets thats even more alarming. Of course it might not be the weather presenters at all but someone in the production department whose job it is to generate headlines. It might be better if the BBC weather app is modified with a direct video link to a web cam focused on the dry bulb thermometer at Heathrow and be done with it. ====================== Well said Bruce. This whole extreme weather stuff has got well out of hand. I blame ****ter and its ****s :-) Will Does anyone know where the instruments now are at Heathrow? Looking at Google Earth, there seems to be a Met enclosure at the same place it was when there were MetO observers, but it's difficult to be sure. Bruce, I thought Gatwick was notable for fogging out, not coldest. |
