And I forgot to say it looks like it reached 17.0c at 04:13 during the night, this has to be a new December record high for Teignmouth.
I will check the official station on my way home this evening. |

I will check the official station on my way home this evening. Well at the same time it was 12.3C in Haytor and 12.4C in Postbridge. So a difference of 5.6C in 1000 feet and 12 miles makes for some very unstable air!!! If it is correct then that is some contrast and seems very unlikely I have to say, sorry. My point still stands though given that the dry adiabatic lapse rate would give a difference of circa 3.3C . Will Don't you think there would be a component of radiative cooling influencing the Dartmoor temperature that wouldn't necessarily be there for coastal Teignmouth? Under thick cloud cover, I don't think so, it was drizzling when I went to bed at 2330. Neither were conditions suitable for a fohn. All I can think of is extra warm air milling around the coast or an error.
