I have never got so many bites on my legs before than I have this
Christmas period and I can only assume they are gnat bites, nasty ones at that! It's not the time of year you would expect to get them either. We have no pets so I don't think it's fleas, but then they are normally a lot smaller bites. Could they be anything else? -- Keith (Southend) "Weather Home & Abroad" http://www.southendweather.net Twitter:@SS9Weatherman |

Possibly midges though I have put outside a few mosquitoes this autumn/winter that have ventured in through an open window. Here midges seem to be more of a feature of the winter time rather than the spring/summer and can be an irritation though nothing remotely on the scale of what I have experienced in June in the Highlands. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

It could be horseflies, they give a very nasty bite. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

Have you thought of wearing trousers....? It could be horseflies, they give a very nasty bite. I remember when I lived in Arctic Sweden, biting insects cane in distinct seasons through the short summer. First in early summer came the midges (mygg), then a few weeks later the mosquitoes (knott) and finally the horseflies. So, I suspect you either have the first midges or the last horeseflies. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- Visit my weather station at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/m.dixon4/Cumulus/index.htm Believing is the start of everything to come. - Hayley Westenra |
