As we approach noon ,the temp here in woodford Green is 14.4c, perfect
for mid March ,but if I may suggest a little on the bleak side for mid June. You have my deepest sympathy George up there in the lowlands of Scotland, although that must feel positivly balmy this June, and Will of course RonB |

As ever this obscures the detail and we have had some fine days with a long dry spell to start the month followed by much damper weather with lots of haar. Easterlies have dominated and it is instructive to see how subtle variations in direction within this flow bring quite different weather conditions. I sense that orographic influences are important as just here we are on the northern edge of the line of hills which extend inland NE-SW from the east coast just south of Dunbar. The prodigious depths of level snow recorded around here (up to 2 feet) in late 2010 are beginning to make sense. Now if this recent weather had been in winter.... -- George in Swanston, Edinburgh, 580'asl www.swanstonweather.co.uk www.eppingweather.co.uk www.winter1947.co.uk |

To date, June 2016 is warmer, wetter and duller than average here. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

At the moment there isn't a cloud to be seen from my window, and only light air, enough to ruffle the leaves on the birch tree but not enough to move the branches. I am off to sit out and eat my dinner in the sunshine. Anne (Moray) |

You have my deepest sympathy George up there in the lowlands of Scotland, although that must feel positivly balmy this June, and Will of course The temperature at midday was 18.2C after a bright but mainly cloudy morning that led into an increasingly sunny afternoon. A maximum of 20.3C and with much lower humidity than we've had for quite a while with a DP maximum of 15.2C. The last 3 days have had thunderstorms at around 4pm and we have gone from pretty parched to soggy in just those 3 days. June rainfall now way above the average with 68 mm. But it has been a warm(ish) week though sunshine levels have been low and the monthly total now stands at a rather poor 85 hours. I would have expected something nearly double that by now. Maximum temperatures for the last 8 days (since the 10th): 20.8C, 21.8C, 22.4C, 18.1C, 19.0C, 18.4C, 21.6C, 21.7C, 20.3C. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
