Just been to the butchers and mildly surprised (shouldn't have been, I
suppose) to see the grass white with frost. Not only that but some
roofs were also white. Butcher said his car temperature on the way in
was +3C.

Someone else taken a lot more by surprise was a schoolgirl wearing a
low-cut lacy-looking black top with bare midriff. She was holding her
arms across her upper chest to attempt to keep warm. Presumably sheer
stupidity runs in her family else a parent would have made her wear
something more sensible.

What sort of school would allow a pupil to come to school dressed like
that?

Are you sure it wasn't fashion/peer pressure and not parental stupidity? There seem to be plenty of people who are all to keen to display acres of bare flesh at the sight of a little sunshine, paying no heed to temperature and wind-chill.

Even if it was fashion/peer pressure, it's still stupidity. Any way, she
was walking with a well-wrapped-up 'peer'. The other girls I noticed on
my way back were also well-prepared for the weather.

Shortly after I got back from my shopping, I had to hang out the
washing. Little wind so I felt quite warm with the low sun on my back
but when I stepped into the shade . . . brrr!

Presumably a warm one. But where do social mores outvote the sullen sober need for youth to ignore the weather. I can remember a time when I wasn't afraid to go out in the rain.

Having thought about it a bit more, I don't think I am afraid to go out in it even in late middle age, so despite the best efforts of my mother I kept my sanity.

I don't go out in the rain because I can't be bothered and because writing responsible replies to Dawlish occupies most of my time. Maybe it is time to do a reset?
