The rain has turned to snow within the last half hour or so in
Cranleigh. Settling only on parked cars so far, but as the temperature
continues to drop I expect it to settle more widely.

Just seen it! Went up to Haldon forest. Light snow, but nothing settling. First flakes of the winter though! 0C on the car thermometer.

1730 in Bracknell, roofs and grass are white but paths etc. are just wet.

After 45 minutes watching Pointless, I've looked out again, and the snow
is now settling readily on all surfaces. As usually happens when the
temperature falls, the flakes are now a lot smaller than they were
earlier, but there's plenty of them.

Am not home but daughter #1 keeping me updated. Has settled on cars with slushy accumulation on pavements. Currently (at 1839z) 0.6C (dp 0.5C) - heading down at a rate of 0.1C every 10 minutes. Am surprised by the amount of rain so far: 14.1mm until the gauge stopped registering when it turned to sleet / wet snow.

Snowing and laying on most surfaces now, about 1/2 inch. Temperature
currently 0.8°C DP -0.5°C

Good shout from the Met Office this one, can't fault the forcast from
about 3 days ago.
