That's much more than we had! Yesterday evening there was less than a
centimetre lying on the level and most gone today.

Very nice, Norman. I always so this but it is amazing what a difference in depth 300m can make. Less than 0.5cm of frozen now on my lawn this morning at 18m. And it is not like we didn't have the rain: I recorded 19.7mm.

Norman's place is just like a hard frost. Just wait till you see what the
pictures from Southport look like once the residents have dug themselves out!
LOL

It's the 2-3 deg difference in temperature between 300m and low-lying areas
that's crucial, e.g. see

http://lynagh.magix.net/album/all-al...825-117000195/

With so many snow events in this country being very maginal temperature-wise,
that 2-3 deg difference often represents the difference between snow at 300m
and rain at lower levels.

LOL! I don't really want to open that can of worms. A severe weather warning
for snow over the Peak District was eventually issued at 1222 yesterday, valid
up to 2355 yesterday. Most of the snow actually fell between 0600 and 0800 this
morning. That's 6-8 hours after the warning expired. Over the past few days the
warnings have been worse than useless for this part of the country.

Wonder what I had. At 160m probably quite a few cms but nothing like that. You certainly were 'plastered' in the end!
