Met Office modelled temps suggest my local area having its warmest March since 1797. A mean of 10.5°C is 2.8°C above average!

Though it's seemed on the mild side here in Surrey, my subjective impression hasn't been that it was anywhere near record territory. -- John Hall "One can certainly imagine the myriad of uses for a hand-held iguana maker" Hobbes (the tiger, not the philosopher!) |

Warmest being 10.2C in 2003. 2012 was 9.8C. This year looks like ending up at 9.8C or 9.9C. Graham Penzance |

It feels like it has been mild, but not on the level of March 2012 (hopefully this March won't be similarly followed by three months of punishment weather). |

Must be the lack of sunshine that has given the opposite impression. I suspect given the forecast it will end up a little higher than that. Sunshine has recovered a bit recently but still well below normal with 94 hours. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

Looking at my average maximum temperature for March, currently 13.3°C, this would be my 2nd warmest, after 2014 with 13.5°C. with two days to go. Keith (Southend) |

Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk I agree, it's not felt that warm a month. Looking a bit deeper the warmth is down to the mild nights. Sine 1991 the average maximum was higher in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 & 2012. The average minimum is a new record high (since 1991). Only about 80 hours of sun so far up on the moors at Bosullow. Probably around 100 hours down at favoured coastal spots, but still pretty poor. 2015 & 2016 saw 135.2 & 133.4 hours of sun, even up on the moors. Graham Penzance |
