Default Snow in Wembury, Episode 4

Light snow started 1040.
Sun disappeared. How much will settle and on what surfaces?
Not the depth of cold in the ground compared with 28 Feb so some uncertainty.

Wembury, SW Devon coast

Heavy snow in last hour.
Turned Wembury white.
About 3 cm deep but reluctant to cover road surface.
Trouble is the narrow roads to Wembury will be filling up slowly, cutting us off.
Need to get to Plymouth for wife's Plymouth Phil Concert.
Unlikely atm.

Being snowing moderately all afternoon, but not settling.
Nice warm ground, but not settling even on car roofs.
Something's up. Temperature around 0°C.
I think there is some warmer maritime air being entrained into the circulation.

It's been snowing here from mid-morning onwards, sometimes quite heavy
and now it is crisp an' even out there except on the lane where the snow
hasn't really settled. About 12 cm or so.

Still snowing lightly, temperature at -0.2C after rising to 0.7C in a
brighter interlude earlier on.

Not even settling on the moors in west cornwall, yet. Hardly surprising, solid surfaces in the sun were warm to the touch by noon.

I think the only chance here is in snow showers later in the night, the main risk ice 1st thing tomorrow.

Plenty out enjoying the sun this morning, including me.

Heavy snow gave a covering of 1cm or so, just enough for snowballs!

Still snow on the trees, but the warm ground means it’s rapidly vanishing now it’s eased off

Typical temporary wet thin Cornish snow, about 5% of the depth we ended up with at the beginning of the month, ignoring the drifts
