These records are for where I live, which is on the very northern
outskirts of Northampton, and do not paint the full picture of what
happened last Sunday evening, 27th May. 3 miles south of here in the Far
Cotton and Hardingstone areas of the town (just south of the town
centre), the picture was very grim. In the space of just under two
hours, 64mm of rain fell during one of the fiercest thunderstorms this
area has experienced in the last 30 years. This resulted in over 100
properties being flooded in 4 areas of town, as well as one main road,
the A45, being flooded in several places and closed for some time. One
mile north of here, Pitsford, had no rain at all on that day!!!
