In case you are reading this, Spike, rest assured that this is not distorted by any urban heat-island effects!

What a pity the Romans didn't have thermometers...;-)

PS The reason I could not be bothered to post earlier this afternoon was because I was compiling a spreadsheet of snowfall at an entirely rural site in west Wales - a 50-year decline being quite apparent. The warming rate there is quite comparable to more urban areas in southern Britain. Odd how the urban heat-island is exaggerated in the minds of much of the public - and the deniers.

The UHI effect was described - but not by that name - at a time when
London was 5 km wide.

Even my own temperature data in the same Stevenson screen for 18 years in exactly the same spot is showing a warming trend of 0.16 deg C per decade. Snowfall is also slowly declining up here in Haytor as well.

Haytor is on Dartmoor at 310m asl and well exposed.

Perhaps you could provide us with the details of these remarkable
stations, Burt?

Jim, is it worth it? The same, now completely countered and initially poor, anyway, tripe from Christy, especially and from Watts will be trotted out.

Why I've given up debating with deniers. They are yesterday's people, with yesterday's ideas. Irrelevant now.

I actually cut my grass with the flymo today as the very mild days a some nights, when it never went below 10c have made it grow, daffodils in bud. I don't think I've ever cut it in January before! I'm sure we will pay for this some way down the line.

Are you afraid of catching 'denier' from, Burt?

I really don't see the harm in exploring Burt's beliefs. He was
badly bullied by his local children, so some of his views about
Greta may be a bit coloured, but he's generally polite.

No, Jim it's just a question. Fair enough. I've said all I need to -
and it wasn't much. I've explored those beliefs (i.e. been drawn into
crazy circular and increasingly nasty arguments) many times before.
Now I don't bother. It's just not worth it. *))

Yes, I've seen you put forward your point of view, both here and on
alt.global-warming, many times.

Best of luck, Paul.

Yes. Those arguments are now won. Time to move on eh?
