At 24.7 degrees N and presumably in a built-up area there are 2c and 3c minima forecast. Seems very cool to me for a Saudi Arabian City, about 2000 feet asl. A ground frost maybe? Is that where our winter has gone...…… |

Isn't it likely to be King Khalid Airport - 35 km from Riyadh ? https://en..wikipedia.org/wiki/King_...tional_Airport https://tinyurl.com/yz8wa9ma - 6.0°C minimum on Monday night. Quite cold nights at some other sites in Saudi Arabia as well https://tinyurl.com/yefxon5s Colin Youngs Brussels |

I don't know if that's something that happens there on rare occasions or whether that particular event was a complete one-off. There is also a photograph of a similar vintage taken in Bahrain that shows a bush with icicles hanging from it as a result a sprinkler being left on overnight on a rare occasion when there was a frost. I also remember experiencing a 'white' Christmas Day in Abadan, at the top end of the Gulf, not because of snow but because of a very heavy hoar frost. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org twitter: @TideswellWeathr |

The ave daily min temp in January there is 6.9C according to http://worldweather.wmo.int/en/city.html?cityId=216
I see that the MO is a little less chilly for Sun / Mon nights. Places further north-west in Saudi Arabia apparently have means below 4C. Julian |
