After the few spots in Coventry at work this afternoon followed by a few more at
home in Kenilworth, I noticed a thick layer of dust on the car. I'm not sure of the origins of this air but I suspect C Europe, not the Sahara - has anyone any idea what the dust could be. Between 2000 and 2100 BST we had a thunderstorm and significant rainfall. Temp is now 19.9 C and I would think the dew point must be fairly close to that as well, as there is a clammy mistiness in the air with that distinctive musty, damp smell. I'll probably wake in the morning to an explosion of slugs as well. I swear the little blighters are freeze-died and swell up and come alive when they contact water. JPG |

Like you, I don't think it was of desert origin - too grey for that, as well as back-tracking doesn't lead to the Sahara and nor does this site (SKIRON) suggest it: http://forecast.uoa.gr/000.dload.html -- Mike posted to uk.sci.weather 16/07/2003 21:42:21 UTC Coleraine Seeking information about the Internet and the way it works? - Subscribe to news:uk.net.beginners |

Notably 'dirty' deposits on car left out in light/intermittent
rainfall on Wednesday morning (16th) - rainfall occurred between 0745Z to 0830Z ... then parked under cover, so no 'wash-out' from later steadier (temporarily thundery) rainfall from late morning onwards. Martin. Bracknell, Berkshire. |
