Default [WR] Coldest day for 8 years

A minimum overnight here of -9.2°C.
And a maximum today of -2.4°C. Currently sliding down again at -3.5°C.
This is the lowest maximum recorded at my site since the very cold spell at
the end of 1995 and only the 7th ice day here of the millennium.
Lowest minimum since March 2001 also.
Alex.

Currently (1634z) MS 8.7C and dropping quite steadily now. Must put a
sweater on next time I go out!

Alex

I,m not sure when your meteorological day starts but I will have to wait
until tomorrow morning at 9am to find out if I have managed an "ice" day, it
hasnt got above -1.1c but I am worried that it may rise after dawn before I
take the reading. This appears to happen on several occassions, making a
mockery of some of the data, but it has to comply with regulations
Air Min was -6.4c and Grass Min -9.2c

Midnight to midnight Paul. It's the way I began in 1993. I just missed out
on an ice-day yesterday, for 9 minutes the temp' was above zero.
With the temp currently -7.8°C I'm certain this will be an ice-day, even if
I did jump the gun a little early.
I also have 9am ob's stretching back to the start also. Easier nowadays with
an AWS. But for max', min's and rainfall it's always been 00z for me. Saves
date confusion I think.
Alex.

Well I've tried reading at all sorts of times and in all sorts of ways
to get some decent low temperatures, makes no difference! Not even a
wet thermometer on the ground gets me an ice day. Lowest minimum this
winter to date is -1.3 degrees

Minimum last night +2.5 degrees, maximum today +6 degrees, currently
+3.5 *in clear skies and a light Easterly to calm. Bit of excitement
yesterday, though...the rain nearly turned to sleet for a while!

Clearly you need to move if you do want an 'ice day'. I reckon we've
had one today in Fife, and there is a dusting of dry snow outside now -
somewhat more than in the recent photo!
