Default Severe weather this week

The latest update I have just seen on Anglia Weather is for gusts 70 to
90mph, mostly very much in the south around the M4 and south of that. It
wasn't terribly specific. There is still another full 24 hours to go, i.e.
plenty of time for things to go either way before a more comprehensive
severe weather warning is issued.

A lot more will be known tomorrow as the 00z DT mesoscale model is available.
Global models are very coarse, as you can imagine, the mesoscale should help
give that ever important detail.

Remember that the Mesoscale Model is fed by data from the Global Model, so
in a fast moving situation errors in the Global Model fields to the west of
the UK will also be apparent in the Meso model...

thats the problem when one higher resolution model feeds off data from
another model.

An expanded mesoscale which extends from the western Atlantic through to
eastern Europe (currently run at 06Z and 18Z) will go some way towards
improving this situation.
