I have been having a small amount of success in my project to dynamically create animation GIF
files from still images. I have written a small single MS-DOS batch file which, when run, automatically downloads images and then creates animations. Have a look and tell me if you find it useful. http://www.djmurphy.demon.co.uk/coin All I need to do now is to set up a scheduled task in Windows to run my batch-file at regular intervals! BEWARE. The GFS animation is about 3 MEG ! but I think it looks pretty cool* I might have to shrink the image size or skip alternate frames or reduce the number of colours to reduce its size . Any ideas or suggestions ? (* "cool" as in a forecast of some cold weather!) -- Brendan DJ Murphy Rayleigh, Essex, 51:34N 0:36E 30m asl Castle Point Astronomy Club http://www.cpac.org.uk |

Any options in your animation programme along those lines? -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |

Any chance of posting the text of the batch file as I have another use for something like that ![]() - Michael |

Well done Brendan, thank you ![]() Luckily I'm on ADSL so the size doesn't matter - I notice that on the web page you say it's only 2MB ![]() How about giving people the opportunity to choose a smaller one if they don't have BB ? Another thought was as I was looking at the cloud/rainfall - how about a page with them both on side by side so comparison's easy ? -- Nick in Northallerton Also nickw7coc on both Yahoo Messenger & on MSN Messenger And http://www.whelan.me.uk |

Any ideas or suggestions ? If there was any simple means of interpolating the hours between the standard synop hours so that the whole thing could be smoothed - that would be superb. Nevertheless an excellent animation, showing a small pool of sub-510dam air "breaking" off the trough and disappearing over SW England. also the development of the omega block is well shown. Hi Brendan, Thanks a lot for that, very useful indeed. I don't think there's any need to decrease the image sizes. 3MB, even on a 56K, doesn't take particularly long to download. Joe |

![]() ...showing a small pool of sub-510dam air "breaking" off the trough and disappearing over SW England. Yes. I noticed that too. The animation reminded me of a lava-lamp, in the way the 510 dam breaks away. Brendan |

Sounds like you animation prog is simply saving each frame completely
rather than just the changes from the previous one. Any options in your animation programme along those lines? Yes, I think there are "optimisation" settings. I shall take a look... -- Brendan DJ Murphy Rayleigh, Essex, 51:34N 0:36E 30m asl Castle Point Astronomy Club http://www.cpac.org.uk |
