I'm becoming a bit disappointed with the BBC forecasts. On the forecasts
I've seen over the past few days, the pressure charts have been missing and we have to get by with the usual symbols showing temperatures and "weather". It was always a bit patchy between individual forecasters whether we got an "Atlantic Chart" or not and I often wondered if some were being lazier than others, but we usually got a larger-scale UK chart, at least. Now it looks as if a policy decision might have been made to omit them altogether. If that's true, it would be a great shame - half the value of the forecast was (to me) in looking at the situation further afield and trying to work out what was going on. - Tom. |

It *may* just be connected with the current weather situation, with plenty of high pressure around, yet some rain at the same time. Might take a bit of explaining:-) -- Mike 55.13°N 6.69°W Coleraine posted to uk.sci.weather 15/02/2004 12:52:11 UTC |

![]() - half the value of the forecast was (to me) in looking at the situation further afield and trying to work out what was going on. That's always been the best thing about the BBC - they take the weather seriously. I'll never say anything against them here - the hand that feeds etc, but yes it would be a sad day day indeed if that happened. However, if that does happen, at least we now have the Internet. When I think back to receiving charts from Offenback with a short wave radio, and ICS converter and a printer(1990 ish), how things have changed!
