Default No, it's not wet everywhere.

According to the 12:55 R4 forecast, 'yet more heavy rain for England and
Wales'.

A bit of a generalisation that. As far as the SW is concerned there has
been very little rain west of Exeter (100 miles from here)

The total rainfall here in the last week has been, well nil. I rather
suspect that the same is the case for several other parts. Yesterday
afternoon saw prolonged
sunshine, and great visibility but with a very cool wind.

Lots of rain here in mid-Norfolk this morning.

But we all know, don't we that when broadcast from London, the only bit of the
country that counts is London ;-)

Cheers.

Not only in the SW, Graham. It's been an excellent, almost completely
dry week here, too in the "Solent - South Downs Gap". OK, there was a
little light rain around 3 am last night but probably less than 1mm
and no visible evidence of it remained at breakfast time this morning.
No thunder or lightning, either.

The radar shows plenty of activity over the Isle of Wight (I'm within
10 miles of it) and from the South Downs Northwards (also within 10
miles) but barely a drop, here. This sort of thing seems to happen
periodically and I am beginning to wonder if there really is a
climatalogical "Isle of Wight - South Downs" gap...

Oh, and the sun's just come out, temperature now up to 15 degrees so
it's back into the garden for me!

Slight dampness in the bottom of the raingauge yesterday. I've been
cursing the forecasts over the last few days - each time they say it will
rain, each time aI believe them so don't water the garden. Water buts empty
already, garden drying out. Our private water supply was close to drying out
last year; what will happen this year after a winter where it never fully
recovered, I don't know.

You have my sympathy. We have a borehole into a massive aquifer and so
can cope. However, we also have a well and three of four springs to
water the livestock. Our well ran rather low last year (although is OK
at the moment) and this caused a few problems. Grass is growing very
well in the fields at present.
