i know metar and taf codes, but i'm a bit baffled to what the CAVOK means in

Cloud and Vis OK....No cloud below 5000ft vis greater than 10km

Whilst researching for something else, I came upon the following
*superb* site dealing with METAR coding / decoding which might be of interest. Although it is biased towards the US METAR code-form, it covers all aspects of same (including the CAVOK that was the subject of this thread). http://www.met.tamu.edu/class/METAR/metar.html#GENERAL (From the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Texas A&M University) I am lost in admiration at the amount of information that the US put in their METAR's, which follow-on from the days well before the 2nd WW when even then US airfield reports were full of additional information.
