Default Tropical Rain?

At 07:57 this morning on R4, Rob Mc. was forecasting 'rain of tropical
intensity'.

Has anyone experienced it yet?

Yeah, I heard that - looking back (with hindsight of course) rather ott I
think, at least here in the westcountry. The R5 forcast at 8.30 was better
though.

Nothing here in central Lancashire as yet. The BBC radar apparently
showed "average" (green/blue) strength rain over my town, but there's
been nothing but a few drizzly bits.

I did think I might have heard thunder a moment ago, however, and there
are some slightly darker, smooth-looking clouds to the south and west.
Couldn't say whether the smoothing effect is caused by distant rain,
however.

I doubt there will be much of 'any' type of rain here in the SE. Still, the
wet season is close.

Just having a light spattering of rain now, but according to the BBC
radar we'll be well out of it soon.

Here in Whitehaven, Cumbria it absolutely poured down at about 5:30pm. And I
mean huge drops coming straight down. It was a sight to behold. Reminds me
of the storms I experienced in Darwin last year. Only difference is this one
lasted about 15 mins then it got sunny again!!!

I agree, and I thought so yesterday as well. Only your post has
encouraged me to stick my neck out. Well done!

Blimey even the Summer weather is being over-hyped now. What will be next,
"severe clouds" forecast for tomorrow followed by a "spell a very sharp
shadows!"
How about a weather warning "the rain will be wetter than usual".

Weather warnings galore on UKMO it's pathetic.

Wet rain. The trains will use that one.

A bit like unexpected snow we had in january.
