Hello,
I want to start taking readings of rainfall, min/max temperature and also air pressure. But I have a few questions and would be really grateful if someone would answer them for me. 1. Should a barometer be set to read the exact air pressure where it is set or should it be adjusted to mean sea level where it is? 2. What are the cheapest, most accurate rain gauges and min/max thermometers available to buy on the internet? 3. What are the Met. Office standards for rain gauges in terms of dimensions? 4. How do you know whether a thermometer (or rain gauge for that matter) are calibrated to provide an accurate comparison with official station records? At the moment I'm looking at www.ukweathershop.co.uk but if someone can suggest another place, that would be great. Are all tipping bucket rain gauges digitized? Thanks in advance, Jeremy |

Section 6), I'm not best person to help he there are many who run MO approved sites, so hopefully they will pitch in with answers to your questions. As regards suppliers, the FAQ does have a section at:- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/booty.weather/FAQ/7A.htm and I use MetCheck http://www.metcheck.co.uk/ but as you will see, for certified thermometers and 'standard' gauges, the cost is not inconsiderable! It all depends really on what you want to do ... if you are aiming for 'official' status then it will cost; if you are just wanting to follow your interests, then it might be less expensive. Martin. I'll add that one to the list: Section 7A & 7B are not 'closed' lists, BTW - if any supplier feels they should be included, let me know & I'll add your name to it.
