Default Overcast but very warm

Well a much more pleasant day today (Southampton) after yesterday
which was as if we'd bypassed most of autumn and landed straight in
November.... Overcast but *very* warm. I'd be surprised if the temp is
not above 20C, it certainly feels the warmest day since the 10th.

Here in east Berkshire (Bracknell), a very pleasant afternoon now - fine
sunshine for the last day of racing at Ascot with the 'old' grandstand:
temperature just above 19degC, gentle wind and variable Ci/thin Ac.

Seems odd to think that the grandstand is regarded as 'old' and will now
be demolished. I can remember it being built back in the early '60's and
its always been the 'new' stand for me - but then I can remember the
Meteorological Office building in Bracknell being new ... now a sorry
site/sight with broken windows, a security fence around same and the
forlorn look of waiting for the bulldozers to turn up .... but then many
will say that's the way it's looked for many years!

Martin.

Heathrow managed 20.7°C but Great Malvern looks like taking the gold
medal with 21.8°C.

Ah yes! Just when you think it is all over - I thought all the alto cloud
had gone - but then - a pink tinge in he sky! On the bike to the Downs -
took a couple of shots now on the website..it was really much more red than
in the photos - beautiful sight....perhaps some more this week.

You are right Phil, it was a fantastic sunset. I'm not sure how you describe
the colour of the blue (azure?) but it is my favourite and the clouds were
that lovely peach colour. Even the three Indian doctor's I was with in my
car (don't worry I'm not that ill - just post cricket match!) were impressed
and I bet they've seen some good ones over the Bay of Bengal.
