Interesting to see ex Tropical Storm Lisa about to be absorbed into the
complex area of low presure to the SW. The forward wave is the one expected
to develop tomorrow - possibly helped by the warm air thrown forward by
Lisa.

Tropical Storm Lisa has now been upgraded to Hurricane status. Still has an eye visible but with water temp now around 23°C this
will only be shortlived.

Lisa is still a Category 1 Hurricane and is expected to be downgraded
to a Tropical Storm as it moves over cooler waters soon.

Lol indeed ! I think it's the forward low (1015mb) that leads to the initial
squeeze but ex-Lisa (wave depression by T+36/DT 00Z) is being watched very
closely in the T+24 to 48 range where there's still the potential for
significant
development.

.... a teasing situ. Whichever model turns out right on this one (from,
say 48hr ago as well as the short-range stuff), should be given a gold
star - as it's a real beastie to handle the complex interactions well.
Plenty of tea/coffee for the lads and lassies in the Penthouse tonight!
Good Luck!!!

Martin.

Bet yes, the vending machines will be busy !

Hi Jon, must confess at being shocked at how dark and cramped your working
conditions still are. Reminded me a bit of the old LWC without windows, mind you
at least there you could swing round in your chair without bumping into someone
else.

Penthouse indeed :-)

Hmm, it's not too bad, Will, but could so easily have been a lot better. I
wouldn't say it's particularly dark, if anything it was too bright before
the lights were moved above the suspended lattice. I'm cautiously
optimistic things will change for the better in the future. To give others a
feel for Operations Centre here's a shot from September last year,

glory. The monstrous metal pipe has since been removed and the chief
replaced with a Pentium 4 ;-)

I'm watching the timing very closely as I have a golf match at 10:30
tomorrow (Sunday). Latest long TAFs for Heathrow/Gatwick/Luton/ Stansted
show no rain before 1500z, which will do me fine :-) That's a bit later
than earlier forecasts were suggesting.
