The "severe adverse weather conditions" here in this part of Kent this
morning are causing havoc on the Ashford-Ramsgate line - all the trains that are running are running late (up to 50 minutes at last check) and half that should be running are cancelled. Just looked outside and it is drizzling - perhaps we can expect this chaos every time it rains from now on? -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ |

Local railway spokesperson saying the company put on an emergency service only, due to the weather forecast for lots of snow blanketing the region, which turned out to be an erroneous forecast. Digressing slightly, local radio this morning had a discussion about why so many schools are closed when we've just got a cold wet day. Various teachers came on the phone talking about how they have to guarantee not just to get the kids in school, but to be able to get the kids home, and as the forecast was for blanket snow, a decision had to be made & much mention by various people about "In my day they never closed the schools, and we have to walk miles to get there" yadda, yadda yadda. One can but hope that there's going to be a point taken about the over-egging the pudding as regards forecasting of appalling winter conditions when all we've really had is a little snow which is normal for this time of year. Send them back in time to 1963! ;-) Cheers |

If we get ever get anything like a half decent cold spell in winter again in this Country, will everything totally stop and we all just stay in bed? -- Pete Please take my dog out twice to e-mail --------------------------------------------------------------- The views expressed above are entirely those of the writer and do not represent the views, policy or understanding of any other person or official body. --------------------------------------------------------------- |
