26 February 2005 - readings from midnight to midnight.

The last of the lying snow at this location was washed away by a period of
moderate rain between 1630 and 1845. However, snow was still reported as
lying on top of Boughton Hill late into the evening. The temperature rose
to a maximum of 6.6 c.

27 February 2005.

I awoke this morning to a fresh covering of snow. The showers began around
midnight, and became more frequent and heavier from 0630. Snow depth at
Painters Forstal (south of Faversham) was measured as 1.5 cm at 0900. Snow
depth at this location was 1.3 cm when measured at 0900. Emptying of the
rain gauge at 0900 produced 1.6 mm.

Overnight the temperature fell to a minimum of -1.2 c. Temperature at 1030
is -.2 c. RH is 83%. A snow shower is currently in progress.

Looks to be an almost identical setup to last Monday with a NE wind
driving showers over east and central Kent. Temperatures here are not as
low as yours (what's your altitude?) at 1.4°C at 1050Z. Temperature fell
to 0.4°C in the last shower at 1030Z. No significant cover of snow here
- not worthy of a measurement at any rate. The strong sunshine is now
rapidly melting what fell in the last 30 minutes.

Altitude is 35 masl - it's a shallow valley lying north west/south east (a
"frost hollow").

Still a fair amount of snow lying along the roadsides, but only in the
shade.
