Default Col - Election Day Forecast

Sorry for my late reply. Went on a short holiday to the N German coast
on 3rd May. Expected to use an internet cafe for copies of the charts
on election day. No such luck. The place was closed down prior to
removal to new premises. Result - no charts and no contact with the
news group. The nearest I got was a newspaper forecast chart for noon
on 6th May - with 5mb spacing.

So I'll have to go along with your assessment of how well the forecast
went.

From your remarks it sounds as if you checked the 6 hourly forecast and
found them wanting. These are the difficult ones because usually there
is hardly any change from one to the other - and yet there is a
difference between the charts which, at the moment, I find is sometimes
very much exaggerated.

I mentioned some bad weather coming into Scotland late on in the day.
Did that take off O.K. or was it missing?

Col, you don't say anything about the 300/500 tops so I'll try and
check that elsewhere.

The weather over the holiday period was rather cold so I would expect
that the thickness forecasts were about right.

For the rest of the factors I think I won't be able to check them so
I'll leave it there.

There was one last point, Col. The 6 hourly forecast and the humidity
forecast predicted a rain area coming towards western areas at the end
of the day. Did that take place or was that a forecast error?

Well, Col, for me that was an interesting experiment. I'm sorry about
the lateness of my reply. Things just didn't go to plan.

Cheers, Keith

No, I don't think so. From what I recall there were weak fronts
straddling the country in a NW flow. I know the cold front was around
here in the morning because it started raining as soon as I stepped
out to vote just after 7. Later it brightened up with showers.
