Wow! Great shot!!
I have to admit that I actually don't know much about weather/cloud systems
.... but it looks like the outside clouds are "sucked in". Is that what
happens or does it just looks that way?

Is this unusual? I've never seen this type of cloud where the outside seems
to be sucked into the main cloud...

It "looks that way."

Those clouds are indicative of a very potent storm system where on the
"passed" side would likely occur mammatus. Probably was a good deal of
hail in it as well and possibly wind damage.
