It looks like Bill is still a level 1 hurricane as it hits Newfoundland.
That's not a *terrible* storm but still pretty destructive. Are you holed up or out looking at it all? Dave |

Yes, we did fine. I had everything bungy corded, so nothing moved. We're so used to high winds that the infrastructure held up well to the 90 kph gusts. My power didn't even flicker! Best of all...the wind shredded a wasps nest that's sitting under an eave on the end of my house...now I just have to finish the job. LOL Of course, the most interesting part is that a cat 1 survived long enough to touch the island. Shades of storms to come... :] -- We must change the way we live Or the climate will do it for us. |

Good going with the wasps! |

We don't minds the wind, b'y. ![]() And I just noticed Danny has formed in the Atlantic...but early estimates have Nova Scotia likely to see more of it....though we'd like to see some rain from it. Been a really dry summer. :] -- We must change the way we live Or the climate will do it for us. |

Is there Newfoundlander word for hurricane? I have the Dictionary of Newfoundland English, but it only goes from Newfoundland to English, not the other way around. |

TS Danny is the brunt of a lot of jokes up here right now...given that everyone calls Premier Williams by his first name....Danny. LOL. I don't think we have a different word for hurricane. I've heard many say there's a good blow on the way...but that is any wind. (And we say it with a smile). ;] -- We must change the way we live Or the climate will do it for us. |
