Most have always thought of North Dakota as freezing cold, tons of snow and
so forth, seen the movie Fargo and all that. Well it has been up over 100º F here and over for much of the state for the past week or so. Records for all time high temperatures are beeing shattered left and right, and it has just been nasty hot and humid here, weather even the old timers can't ever remember having seen before. My once lush and green yard is now bone dry, and the grass has went dormant. I grew up in Del Rio Texas on the Mexican desert, was born in Amarillo, ranched with my uncle in Gail Texas, went thru Basic Training at Lackland AFB TX in June & July. I know about hot weather, but these last 5 days here in Minot North Dakota have been possibly what has felt to me like some of the hottest most miserable days I've ever known in my entire life. I've lived her since 1986, and each winter was just what you would think it would be here, cold, and tons of snow, and many times we were colder than Alaska, which was never as funny as it sounded, but for the past several years the winters have been eerily warm and mild. Matter of fact for the past 3 years I didn't use a whole tank of gas in my snowblower all winter. Just the other day London Broil became a word not just related to cooking when London England reached 100º F for the first time since records have been kept. Yepper, this summer is going to be one for the record books. |
